Matt Crowder, a proud member of the U. S. Army, sends his thoughts and prayers to the victims, survivors and loved ones affected by the Fort Hood shooting.

When joining the military one makes a conscious decision that by doing so you may one day endure injury or give your life in the service of this great nation. Typically this happens in some far off country, but tragically, as happened earlier today, this happens at home where we can feel safe. In case you haven’t seen it yet, tragedy has struck Fort Hood, Texas again as it did nearly 4 1/2 years ago. While the location is the same, the scenario and motive may be completely different….but in the end the peace has been shattered and lives have been forever changed.

All I ask is that you take a moment to hug your loved ones a little tighter, say a prayer if you are religious, or just keep our nation’s protectors and their familes at Fort Hood in your thoughts in the coming days and weeks.
